Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation Hints
How does this area help me open those gates?
of 8: You'll find four steeply sloped holes in the wall at the end of that hallway.
of 8: Look into them.
of 8: They're pretty dark.
of 8: Pull out your binoculars, look to the end of those holes, and then activate the night vision. If you're standing in the proper place (so you can see to the end of the holes), you should be able to read one set of hieroglyphs in each of those holes.
of 8: Those hieroglyphs are the same ones that appeared on the buttons in the area at the start of the level.
of 8: Press the buttons in the order indicated on those buttons to open the remaining gates off the central area. Note that those combinations will only work once you've been through this western gate first -- earlier, all they did was open a way into the "penalty area" to the northeast. You may therefore need to use combinations that you've already tried before.
of 8: The correct combinations are 1 2 3 -- opens the far eastern gate 2 1 3 -- opens the southwestern gate 2 3 1 -- opens the southeastern gate 3 2 1 -- opens the northwestern gate (where 1 refers to the leftmost hieroglyphic button; 2, to the center button; 3, to the rightmost button).
of 8: Remember that you can only open one of those gates at a time. You then have to go through that gate, let it close behind you, and then look for a switch to reopen the gate and reset the combination buttons.
