The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints
Dwemer Warbots
1 of 8: You get this quest by talking to Ignatius Flaccus in his house in Godsreach. Ask him about "repair my bots", and he'll ask you to find 10 pieces of scrap metal to help him repair his Dwemer warbots.
2 of 8: Most alchemists will just sell you scrap metal, although you may have to trek back to the mainland of Vvardenfell to find one that does. You can also find scrap metal in most Dwemer ruins, including the one beneath Mournhold that's part of the main quest Investigate Bamz-Amschend.
3 of 8: About the only tough part is finding the weight to carry all of those pieces around, at 10 pounds each. Remember that it's generally safe to leave things lying around on the ground, so you can either bring the metal a few pieces at a time, or dump heavy weapons and armor just long enough to get the metal, and then return. Or use Feather to help you move around more easily with lots of stuff, if you need the boost -- you may even want to temporarily cast Mark in Ignatius Flaccus' House so you can get back quickly with Recall.
4 of 8: Annoyingly, as soon as you deliver the metal, Ignatius will remember that he also needed 3 Dwemer cogs. Those you'll probably have to get from a Dwemer ruin, at 50 pounds each. I found plenty in the Hall of Winds, just off the main Hearthfire Hall in Bamz-Amschend.
5 of 8: I also ran into some sort of non-repeatable bug that makes this quest quite worthwhile. Sometimes, when I delivered either the scrap metal or the cogs, my total weight carried would go down by 100 or 150 pounds, as if Ignatius took them from me, but the items would still remain in my inventory. I could then drop them on the ground and "lose" yet another 100 or 150 pounds, in effect giving me a permanent Feather spell of that magnitude.
I have no idea what triggers this bug -- playing from the same save at the same point and repeating what I thought were the same steps could produce different results. If you are able to repeat the bug -- and can tell me exactly what causes it -- please write to let me know. In other words, please find some "X" that you can do before handing over the items and get the feather as a result, but you also need to test and find out that *not* doing "X" will *not* cause the same bug.
6 of 8: In any case, when you're all done, Ignatius will ask you to return in a few days to watch the warbots fight. You can place a bet of up to 1000 gold if you'd like, on either the steam centurion or the sphere.
7 of 8: You probably know which one of those two is the tougher opponent by now.
8 of 8: I found that the steam centurion tended to win.
