The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints
The Natural
1 of 7: This is an odd (and rather tough) quest which will be triggered when you talk to the wood elf named Gaenor in the Temple Courtyard. I don't recommend even talking to him if you're at a very low level.
2 of 7: Talk to him about a "favor", and he'll start asking and eventually demanding that you give him various amounts of money. Once you refuse -- and I see no reason to help him in the first place, although I suppose you could play along if it amuses you -- he'll keep pressing you, and then eventually threaten you and disappear when you say no for the last time.
3 of 7: Come back in another day or two, and Gaenor will start attacking you as soon as you approach him. Kill him to complete this quest.
4 of 7: Gaenor has lots of hit points, good (ebony) armor, and the ability to regenerate slowly over time. He also has powerful Resist Magicka and Reflect effects running on him, plus a truly huge luck stat (770).
5 of 7: So you need to do lots of damage, and do it relatively quickly, or else you'll be fighting a losing battle with Gaenor's regeneration. Speed and strength boosts help here, as do weapons that can deal a lot of non-magical damage per blow. As always, read these general-purpose combat tips if you need some help.
6 of 7: Eventually, Gaenor should go down, particularly if you can stay in the fight long enough to wear out his armor. Once you're done, you'll get a full set of ebony armor and an ebony longsword. Depending on what else you have, you may want to enchant these items and keep them for yourself (as ebony tends to hold stronger enchantments) or else just sell them for the money. That's pretty much all there is to it, except for Gaenor's special amulet that fortifies luck by 15 when worn.
7 of 7: If you can't kill him, don't worry -- you don't have that much of a reason to be wandering about the Temple Courtyard, so just keep moving, and he'll probably annoy you but never kill you all that quickly, unless you're at a very low level. In which case, you should just avoid this area until you can beef up, or else restore an earlier saved game.
