How do I get a blade piece from the Museum?

  • 1 of 7: Talk to the curator, Torasa Aram, about "pieces of the blade" and she'll mention that the museum has an odd-looking shield from about the right time in history.
  • 2 of 7: Ask about her "one piece" and then ask what sort of "compensation" she expects, and she'll tell you that you need to donate at least 2 pieces to the museum for her to give you her Dwemer Battle Shield.
  • 3 of 7: Yes, this means you need to find two artifacts that you haven't already sold to the Museum.  You'll probably have a few that you'd rather hold onto -- although do keep in mind that you're going to get a powerful long blade by finishing this quest, so maybe they're worth giving up.  You might also try solving a few more of the quests that give you these items, or you can try to buy back items that you've already sold anywhere but the Museum, or you might just cheat and summon the items.  See the hints for the full Museum quest to figure out how to summon any items you need.
  • 4 of 7: If all else fails, you can also summon the shield itself -- hit ~ to bring up the console, type player->additem "dwemer_shield_battle_unique" 1 then hit ~ to close the console.
  • 5 of 7: Torasa also mentions that the shield has some sort of weird metal piece attached to the front.
  • 6 of 7: She suggests that any good smith could take care of that.
  • 7 of 7: Go to Craftsmen's Hall and talk to Yagak gro-Gluk about "Dwemer Battle Shield", and he'll separate the two pieces.  It turns out the "extra" piece is really the piece of the blade you're after.
