Uplink Hints

Robbing Banks

  • 1 of 21: Most have completed missions that involve money transfers. Illegitimate ones.
  • 2 of 21: When you see an account that has about 800,000c in it, you might feel a small twinge in your heart. "Would that I had that..."
  • 3 of 21: Well, as the credits are just bits in the stream, even they can be edited and transferred!
  • 4 of 21: There are severe risks, though.
  • 5 of 21: The security in the banks is high, but not too high.
  • 6 of 21: Ultimately, robbing banks is far too easy (at least in this version).
  • 7 of 21: I'd recommend trying yourself before you go on.
  • 8 of 21: They can either track you actively or passively. If you don't let them get too close, you shouldn't have any trouble avoiding the active scans. Also, if you have a Monitor Bypass, you won't have to worry about this at all.
  • 9 of 21: Logs are a problem in this type of activity.
  • 10 of 21: When you visit a bank, you leave two logs. One that says you were there and another that says you (or the account, actually) transferred a certain amount of money -- to your bank account.
  • 11 of 21: You need to get rid of _all_ the logs of the transaction.
  • 12 of 21: Delete the logs in the "View Statement" -- section of your target to get rid of the first problem.
  • 13 of 21: Don't bother deleting the logs in the Admin section as they'll start Active Tracking you as soon as you try.
  • 14 of 21: Simply de-log as usual. See Logometry for details.
  • 15 of 21: Whoops! You got caught. Maybe there's another log, too.
  • 16 of 21: Have you ever looked at a statement closely?
  • 17 of 21: There are two kinds of transactions listed -- TO the account or FROM the account.
  • 18 of 21: You've now deleted the from part.
  • 19 of 21: There's still another log left.
  • 20 of 21: Delete the log in your own statement.
  • 21 of 21: See here for getting rich early on.
