Uru: Ages Beyond Myst Hints
How can I open the door past the control panel with six buttons?
of 21: Take a look at the symbols connected to each of the buttons.
of 21: And see if you can remember where you might have seen the symbols before.
of 21: They were back in the gallery, on a display with six rotating prism shapes.
of 21: It might help if you wrote out the numbers that go with each of the shapes on the console, and thus with each of the buttons. Or read ahead to see my answer:
of 21: Notice that button A (the leftmost one) just so happens to have the D'ni number 1 already written on it. Maybe this means you should press that button first.
of 21: The rest of the numbers will help you figure out the order in which you should press the remaining buttons.
of 21: There may be a theme to the puzzles in this age.
of 21: Think about how you solve the previous puzzle.
of 21: You were looking for what was missing from a sequence, not what was in the sequence itself.
of 21: Notice that the number 1 does not appear next to button A.
of 21: So find out what else is missing. (Or again, read ahead for the answer.)
of 21: You already know which button's first, so you can eliminate the number 1 from each of those lists. (You're trying to figure out the correct order, and only one button can go first.)
of 21: That means that the number 6 must go with button F (since 1 goes with A, and F must be either 1 or 6).
of 21: That leaves the number 2 with button E, now that 6 is taken.
of 21: And then you know button B is 3 (1 and 2 are taken).
of 21: So button C is 4, and finally, button D is 5.
of 21: Push the buttons in the order given by the numbers you just figured out.
of 21: Press the buttons in this order: A, E, B, C, D, F, and the door will open. (If you started pressing them in another order, you'll need to finish a full pattern of six buttons to reset the console first.)
