Why won't the windmill turn?
1 of 9: You could try clicking on the handle to see what happens, but it looks like the windmill is stuck right now.
2 of 9: Or maybe more accurately, it's been locked up on purpose.
3 of 9: Try going down into the cleft to see if you can figure out how to unlock it.
4 of 9: You'll need to explore most of the cleft before you can find the controls.
5 of 9: Keep going until you've found a way across the broken bridge, and go into the room closest to the far side of that bridge.
6 of 9: There should be another room adjoining that one. (If it helps you get your bearings, this second room is also just on the far side of the bridge closest to the ladder headed back out of the cleft, but that door is closed initially.)
7 of 9: Look for a lever in the ground, fairly close to the doorway back to the "first" library-like room in this apartment.
8 of 9: When you click on it, you will release the brake on the windmill. You will see the adjoining crankshaft start to turn when you do this.
9 of 9: You can now climb back out of the cleft, and then push the windmill handle again. This time, the windmill itself will turn, and it will keep rotating after you give it its initial push.
