Voyage Hints

What are all of these symbols I am finding on the walls by the ledges?

  • 1 of 12: Look closely at the diagrams.  Each contains two "lines" of symbols.
  • 2 of 12: The top line typically has three simpler symbols...
  • 3 of 12: ... and the bottom line seems to show some of the various lunar plants.
  • 4 of 12: In each case, the middle symbol on the top line is ">".
  • 5 of 12: And each bottom line appears to show two settings of two different plants.
  • 6 of 12: Since the same two plants are shown in both settings, what is different about them?
  • 7 of 12: The first setting (i.e., the first half of the bottom line) shows two of the five lunar plants -- which should be identifiable, if Ardan has explored enough of the plateau area to discover the unique features of each of the five colorful plants.
  • 8 of 12: The second setting seems to show that one plant has "overpowered" -- or dominated, or subdued -- the other plant.
  • 9 of 12: This would appear to indicate that there is a "pecking order" to the plants.
  • 10 of 12: It would also indicate that the top row (of three symbols) are ideograms for the two plants, separated by the middle symbol (">"), which would imply a meaning for this symbol of "is greater than", or "dominates", or "subdues".
  • 11 of 12: Be sure to have Ardan "jump" to every level of ledges that he can.  There should be five in all.  Make note of all diagrams and symbols found at each level.
  • 12 of 12: When you have all five diagrams, you will have a complete hierarchy dictating how the five groups of plants interact with each other.
