Voyage Hints

How do I use the elevator?

  • 1 of 17: Upon entering the elevator, there is a column of symbols, with a green light by each.
  • 2 of 17: The light that is lighted indicates the current "level" in the underground caverns.  (There are obviously quite a few levels to explore!)
  • 3 of 17: Note the diagram at the top of the column of lights.  It appears to represent the top of the mountain -- where Ardan first entered the underground area.
  • 4 of 17: Inside the elevator, turn to the right, and look at the elevator control panel.
  • 5 of 17: There are six vertical rectangular buttons, each bearing an ideogram, or symbol, that matches the six symbols in the column of green lights.
  • 6 of 17: These obviously indicate the various levels for the elevator.
  • 7 of 17: But none is currently active.
  • 8 of 17: What might activate the elevator buttons?
  • 9 of 17: Look at the three additional controls to the right of the column of buttons.
  • 10 of 17: The symbols on these three controls are not ideograms, but appear to be Selenite numbers.
  • 11 of 17: And each one looks as though it might be a slot for a key.
  • 12 of 17: What key(s) do you currently have in inventory?
  • 13 of 17: Place the "0" key into the top of the three key slots -- the one with the ideogram for "0".  Several of the green lights will light (including the one associated with that key slot), indicating that some of the elevator buttons are now active.
  • 14 of 17: Note that the placement of the key slots compares to the levels that key provides access to.  (The position of the key slot implies "All levels down to here.")
  • 15 of 17: With the key inserted, what happens when you press the top rectangular button?
  • 16 of 17: The top symbol ("Earth") is where Ardan first boards the elevator.  So pressing that button when he is at that level does nothing.
  • 17 of 17: Ardan can now explore any of the four levels that are accessible using the "0" key.
