Voyage Hints

What are the blue light bars at the bottom for?

  • 1 of 10: The blue light bars indicate which "turn" you are on.
  • 2 of 10: When you first start working with the harmonic educator, you are on your "first turn".  And until you fully solve it, only the first blue light will be on.
  • 3 of 10: After you have solved the puzzle the first time, the dignitary will tell you that your effort was "laborious".  While you will get a certain number of points, he will note that you can get a higher score if you'd like to try the puzzle again -- perhaps even for a perfect score (i.e., no mistakes).
  • 4 of 10: Each time you go back to try another round with the harmonic educator, another blue light will light.
  • 5 of 10: However, each time the puzzle becomes a bit harder.
  • 6 of 10: The first time through, you can make an unlimited number of mistakes.  That is why it is really not that difficult originally.
  • 7 of 10: But after the first success, each new level contains a bar across the top of the panel, which "counts" how many mistakes you make.
  • 8 of 10: The second time through (two blue light bars are lit), you can make 16 mistakes, before the puzzle will clear and begin over again.  You must solve the puzzle with less than 16 mistakes to complete it.
  • 9 of 10: The third and fourth times through (three and four blue light bars lit, respectively), you can make NO mistakes.  The ONLY way to solve these is to identify all 16 matches with no errors.  (And remember that the sounds on the left panel randomize each time!)
  • 10 of 10: Believe it or not, it is possible to do just that -- although it will take a very musical talent, and probably a keyboard nearby, to accomplish the task.  However, solving the puzzle at these more difficult levels is *not* essential to completing the game.
