Voyage Hints

What am I supposed to do with the puzzle directly across from the elevator?

  • 1 of 20: This certainly looks familiar!
  • 2 of 20: It is similar to an earlier puzzle, where you had to add "6" to the two-digit Selenite number in the top row.
  • 3 of 20: It's likely that this puzzle will work in a manner similar to that other one.
  • 4 of 20: Unfortunately, adding "6" to the top row doesn't provide the answer that the puzzle is looking for.
  • 5 of 20: And there doesn't seem to be any clue on this panel (such as the etching on the earlier panel) to indicate what number you *should* add to the top row.
  • 6 of 20: So maybe there's a more intuitive clue somewhere.
  • 7 of 20: Perhaps the puzzle is even location-dependent (i.e., related to the position of the puzzle itself).
  • 8 of 20: At what position are you standing, when you exit the elevator and face the puzzle?
  • 9 of 20: Look at the number on the ground.  It appears slightly different than the position numbers on the earlier floors.
  • 10 of 20: All of the other numbers were one-digit Selenite numbers.  (Even though the earlier numbers may have translated to a two-digit number in our numbering system, they were all still less than 20.)
  • 11 of 20: The Selenite numbering system works on the basis that each digit can represent anything from 0 to 19 (based on the dots and dashes used).
  • 12 of 20: The position number at this location shows a single dot in one box, and two dots in a second box...
  • 13 of 20: ... almost as if it were attempting to display a two-digit Selenite number.
  • 14 of 20: What number would this represent?
  • 15 of 20: A "1" followed by a "2" -- although written as "12" -- actually represents "1 'twenty' and 2 'ones'" -- or 22.
  • 16 of 20: What happens if you use "22" (in our arithmetic -- or "12" in the Selenite system) as the number to add to the top row?
  • 17 of 20: Once you have entered the correct total, a panel opens (as with the other similar puzzle), exposing another switch.
  • 18 of 20: What happens when you click on the switch?
  • 19 of 20: Did you hear that sound?  Better take a look around.
  • 20 of 20: The wall on your left just opened, exposing a new room!
