Does it matter whether I send him in or not?
1 of 3: Not really.
2 of 3: You can either move Dandelion over to the trap door and click to get him to enter the lair (and then walk forward a bit), or you can run him back south to where Geralt is waiting.
3 of 3: Either way, you'll regain control of Geralt, and will need to get him into the succubus' lair.
