The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Hints
Reach the riverboat.
1 of 4: Move forward to encounter Newboy if you started on the "Melitele's Heart" side quest earlier and advised him not to trust his amulet to protect him.
2 of 4: He'll agree to distract the guards who are past the nearby stairs. Wait until he does so, then go up the stairs.
3 of 4: If you advised Newboy to rely on his amulet to protect him, you'll have to fight the guards, after which you'll find Newboy's corpse. (Be sure to loot it to get his amulet.)
4 of 4: Go along the nearby planks and follow Triss onto the riverboat to get a long series of cut-scenes that finish the prologue and start Chapter 1.
