What if I took the second route, which skips the torture chamber?
1 of 4: Follow Shilard cautiously until he starts talking to a guard.
2 of 4: Immediately douse the nearby torch, then wait for the guard to run by and head for the dungeon.
3 of 4: After he's gone, go over to the iron gate he came through to find that it's now unlocked.
4 of 4: In the area past it is a door that leads outside, where you'll get the "Reach the riverboat" objective.
