A Sword for Monsters

  • 1 of 8: The first thing you need is a diagram for a Witcher's silver sword.
  • 2 of 8: You'll find that in one of the containers that's near the riverboat you arrived in. If you don't get it right away, you can go back for it later.
  • 3 of 8: Checking the diagram in your inventory, you'll see that you also need a portion of diamond dust, some timber, some iron ore, and two chunks of silver ore.
  • 4 of 8: You can probably find some of those items in the containers near the one that had the diagram in it. You may also have some of the items from loot you got in the prologue.
  • 5 of 8: After checking around Flotsam, you'll probably end up with plenty of everything except silver ore.
  • 6 of 8: Find the dwarven smith named Berthold Candeleria along the south side of town and trade with him. He has several chunks of silver ore for sale.
  • 7 of 8: After buying two of them, you can pay him to craft you a Witcher's silver sword, which you can then equip.
  • 8 of 8: NOTES: You can get a diagram for a robust silver sword that does a bit more damage during the sneaking-around part of the "Indecent Proposal" quest. You can also get one from the "In the Claws of Madness" side quest if you turn Rupert and Gridley over to the specter. Completing both the "The Nekker Contract" and "The Endrega Contract" side quests will get you a diagram for a witcher's superb silver sword (though you won't want to go without a silver sword until then).
