The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Hints

Baltimore's Nightmare

  • 1 of 11: After you finish the "Hunting Magic" quest, get and play the silver crystal in the harpy lair's projector stone to get this quest.
  • 2 of 11: Return to Vergen and look for Baltimore's home a short distance north of Cecil Burdon's. When you get close to it, a brief cut-scene will play, and you'll get a journal update.
  • 3 of 11: Go up the nearby stairs and talk to Thorak about Baltimore until he says you can search the old workshop, then go back down the stairs and through the door.
  • 4 of 11: Go to the dusty old house's back room and look for a brick wall that you can blast away with the Aard sign.
  • 5 of 11: Search the chest that's on the shelf past the wall to get a key and a page of directions, then exit the workshop.
  • 6 of 11: When Thorak talks to you, you can say "yeah" to tell him about what you found, or "nothing interesting" to hide it from him. (Note that to keep your options open, you should tell him.)
  • 7 of 11: You'll then need to start following the clues on the page of directions to find what the key unlocks.
  • 8 of 11: The chest that you find has another key in it.
  • 9 of 11: Near the SW corner of the room past the door is a chest that contains Baltimore's notes.
  • 10 of 11: If you told Thorak about what you found in the workshop, he'll show up and talk to you before you can loot the chest. You'll then have to choose whether or not to let him take the notes from the chest without you seeing them first.
  • 11 of 11: If you didn't tell Thorak about what you found in the workshop, he'll show up when you take the notes from the chest. Things will then proceed as if you'd told him what you found in the workshop and then refused to let him take the notes.
