The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Hints
An Encrypted Manuscript
1 of 6: You'll get this quest when you get the ancient manuscript from the chest in the SE seal chamber while doing the "The Gargoyle Contract" side quest.
2 of 6: Either before or after finishing that quest, talk to Bras of Ban Ard in the merchants' area about the ingredients he needs to unlock the manuscript.
3 of 6: He'll say he needs a bullvore brain, a queen endrega's pheromones, some warrior nekker blood, and either a harpy egg or a rotfiend tongue.
4 of 6: Unfortunately, not all of those items can be gotten in Loc Muinne. You already know where you can find some harpies to kill, since you've probably run through their area several times by now. (Though I'm not sure it's possible to get an egg from them.)
5 of 6: Bullvores and rotfiends can be found in the sewers, but there's no way to get warrior nekker blood or a queen endrega's pheromones. If you didn't get some in Chapter 2, you can't finish this quest.
6 of 6: If you manage to get all of the ingredients, give them to Bras of Ban Ard to get a diagram for the legendary steel sword Caerme. (Note that it only requires a few common ingredients, and Ban Ard can craft it for you.)
