How can I get the mechanism on the wall opposite the cellar exit to work?
1 of 11: When you click on it, Samuel will try the red wheel and say that it's stuck.
2 of 11: Look above the wheel to see a cogwheel.
3 of 11: From the looks of it, there seem to be empty places for more cogwheels. Perhaps if you could find other cogwheels and put them back in, the mechanism will work.
4 of 11: One of them is very close by.
5 of 11: Look on the floor next to the fountain that's just a few steps left of the mechanism.
6 of 11: The other one is in the further-on underground area with the stairs leading down into murky water.
7 of 11: That cogwheel is floating on the murky water way over to the right. Needless to say, it's out of reach.
8 of 11: There is a way to bring the cogwheel a little closer.
9 of 11: Start by figuring out how to raise the water level in the room.
10 of 11: Once you've done that, the cogwheel you're after will have floated over to the left side of the murky water. That means it's close to a pathway as well as being higher up, but it still isn't within easy reach.
11 of 11: After you've placed both cogwheels by using them on the mechanism, you'll be able to turn the wheel, thereby draining the other underground area of all its murky water.
