Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon Hints

How can I reduce the friction?

  • 1 of 15: Has George tried to push the strut a couple of times?  He'll tell you what he needs.
  • 2 of 15: He says the strut needs some sort of lubrication.
  • 3 of 15: Have you tried the greasepaint?
  • 4 of 15: The greasepaint is too old -- it won't fit into the gap under the strut.
  • 5 of 15: You won't find any ready-made liquid lubricants, you'll have to make your own.
  • 6 of 15: Start with the greasepaint.  What can you do to it, to soften it up?
  • 7 of 15: Think of the greasepaint as being similar to a wax crayon.
  • 8 of 15: Wax crayons melt very easily -- and so will the greasepaint.
  • 9 of 15: Can you think of anywhere in the theatre that is hot enough to melt the greasepaint?
  • 10 of 15: Stage lights are very hot.
  • 11 of 15: Look along the edge of the stage, in the theatre.  Any of the lights will do.
  • 12 of 15: If you try melt the greasepaint by itself, George will burn his hands.  You'll need a suitable container.
  • 13 of 15: You'll have to put the greasepaint into the disposable cup.  For information about combining inventory items, read
  • 14 of 15: Use the cup holding greasepaint on the stage lights (George will have to be standing on the stage to do so.)
  • 15 of 15: Now, back to the sub-basement, to use the melted greasepaint on the strut.
