Dalish Camp Tour
1 of 13: Go to Athras' aravel (wagon) a ways east of the area entrance and look around it for an elfroot plant, a wooden crate, and some colored inks you can get a codex entry from.
2 of 13: Talk to Athras to get the "Lost to the Curse" optional quest, then look SW of his wagon for another elfroot plant.
3 of 13: Near the aravel just north of Athras', there's a skull and two statues that each give a codex entry.
4 of 13: Talk to Lanaya at length about her questions and herself to get another codex entry.
5 of 13: If you try to open the chest near Lanaya, she'll stop you. If you try to open it again, you'll make her mad and lose approval with the Dalish camp. (Camp approval is important when dealing with certain people.) If you try to open it a third time, you'll finally be able to take the song book that's in it.
6 of 13: Tell Zathrian you need equipment to be referred to Varathorn, whose aravel is just to the west.
7 of 13: Talk to Varathorn and ask about the equipment to be referred to a nearby chest. Check all around his aravel to find the chest, a barrel, a wooden crate, and a pile of scrolls you can read for two codex entries.
8 of 13: Check the smaller wagon next to the aravel for another codex-giving skull, then talk to Varathorn again to get the "Rare Ironbark" optional quest. After that, you may be able to do merchant business with him once. (He won't trade with you regularly until you earn some approval in the camp by finishing his quest and/or others.)
9 of 13: Go west from Varathorn's aravel until you find a deathroot plant next to a cliff, then return to his aravel and go north to find a locked chest and a pile of sacks. There's another locked chest a bit farther north, near an elf girl.
10 of 13: Go west from there to find a codex-giving statue next to a halla and a woman named Elora. Talk to her and do her "Elora's Halla" optional quest, then look around the outside of the halla pen for elfroot and deathroot plants.
11 of 13: Go back east and look for a codex-giving wolf statue and two elfroot plants near the Brecilian Forest exit, then find Cammen to the south and do his "Cammen's Lament" quest.
12 of 13: After that's over, find Sarel sitting near where Cammen was and talk to him about everything you can until he clams up again. (He's another elf who doesn't trust you until you increase camp approval by finishing optional quests.)
13 of 13: Go back to Varathorn to find that he'll now offer you regular merchant services. Note that he sells the Shapeshifter specialization manual, which you may want to buy or unlock using the trick below.
