Dragon Age II Hints
Take Flemeth's amulet to the altar at the top of Sundermount.
1 of 7: Look around the Dalish camp for four codex items, the "Clan Craftmaster" store, a crate with an item that starts the "Map of Occupied Kirkwall" side quest, and a guy you can talk to for the "Remains of the Outlaw 'Half-Braid' Silsam" side quest (if you have it).
2 of 7: Go to the NW end of the camp to find two paths. Take the path on the left if you want to find another map exit and some giant spiders to kill, then take the other path to meet up with Merrill.
3 of 7: Move along the path to start encountering undead. Note that corpses take a few seconds to rise from the ground, and attacking them the instant they appear gives you a few free hits.
4 of 7: After you slash your way through more corpses, you'll come to a camp with a Dalish hunter who makes some snide remarks about Merrill. Loot his sack and grab the nearby elfroot, then go north and enter the caverns.
5 of 7: After exiting the caverns, examine the nearby barrier to get Merrill to remove it, then be careful what you say. You can get rivalry points with companions like Bethany, Fenris, and Anders. Choose the dialogue option that mentions the demon to get friendship points with them instead.
6 of 7: Look to the north for a pile of bones to loot, then go down the path past the barrier and toward the altar. Be warned that the arrow-riddled corpses you're passing will rise up and attack you when you get near the altar, as will a powerful arcane horror.
