Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Confront Dog and convince him to back down -- one way or another.
1 of 4: In order to avoid fighting Dog, you'll have to be able to pass a Speech 50 check. If you can't, you'll get the "Kill Dog" objective.
2 of 4: If you can pass the Speech 50 check, you'll get a Speech 75 check plus an option to order Dog to pull on the chain on his neck as hard as he can. If you have him do that, he'll kill himself, and you'll get the "Get out of the kitchen before Dog's collar detonates -- and detonates ..." objective. (Note that this is a bad option if you haven't repaired all the gas valves yet.)
3 of 4: Passing the Speech 75 check will get you a Speech 85 check plus options to have Dog go to sleep or kill himself. The kill-himself option works the same as above. If you have him go to sleep, God will take control. Since he's not insane enough to detonate the gas, you'll then be free to go around and repair all the gas valves without sneaking, after which you can leave the kitchen.
4 of 4: Passing the Speech 85 check will do some sort of healing/merging thing with Dog's two personalities, and he'll lose his memory of you and the Sierra Madre. However, that's deemed a good action, and you'll get some good karma. This option also prevents him from detonating the gas, which allows you to shut it off and leave.
