Fallout: New Vegas Hints

Hunting the Legendary Cazador

  • 1 of 8: The unique cazador called "legendary cazador" is in the Silver Peak Mine (location 9 on the Zone 1 Map). Be sure to bring along two followers and lots of antivenom, plus your best weapons and ammo. A Stealth Boy and a Silenced Gun would also be handy. (Note that mines are no longer useful due to a game update "fixing" things so that cazadors don't set off mines. That doesn't really make sense with proximity-type mines, but that's how it is now.)
  • 2 of 8: Enter the mine shack and look around for supplies, then enter the mine and sneak forward until you encounter three cazadors. Do your best to stay behind your followers and not get stung while fighting them. (Note that if you're sneaky enough, those cazadors may not detect you and come down the passage after you, in which case they'll be in the big cave that's ahead.)
  • 3 of 8: Continue down the passage until you reach a huge cave area. Stay back and shoot down any cazadors that you can see from the cave entrance, then make your way to the back of the cave, where you'll find some more cazadors.
  • 4 of 8: Enter the passage that's in the SW cave wall and sneak down it to encounter the legendary cazador. Soon after it attacks you, several other cazadors will show up and try to surround you.
  • 5 of 8: Note that the legendary cazador may also attack from behind instead of appearing in front of you. You've got to start watching for cazadors coming from both directions as soon as your stealth indicator goes to "[CAUTION]."
  • 6 of 8: One thing you could try is having your followers wait in a position a short distance NE of the start of the passage, then get out your silent gun and quicksave. Sneak down the passage until your stealth indicator goes to "[CAUTION]," then immediately use a stealth boy.
  • 7 of 8: Wait a few seconds to see if any cazadors fly into range. If not, go back the way you came and help your followers shoot them down, trying not to get yourself detected.
  • 8 of 8: When the area seems clear, check to the north to make sure there aren't any leftover cazadors that way. They sometimes spawn over there and don't attack because they don't notice anyone right away.
