How can I help Vault City and Gecko?

  • 1 of 8: It appears that it should be possible to set up an alliance between Vault City and Gecko.  Whether due to a bug or some quest that no one seems to have found, there doesn't actually seem to be any way of getting credited with this at the end of the game.
  • 2 of 8: In theory, you should be able to set up the alliance by repairing the reactor -- and delivering some important data in your quest to repair the reactor -- and then optimizing the reactor.  But there seem to be some bugs and other oddities in these quests, detailed in the following hints.
  • 3 of 8: From what I've been told, there are a few ways to slightly improve the ending here.  One is to keep Gecko from being taken over.
  • 4 of 8: Vault City only does this because Gecko has surplus power.
  • 5 of 8: So don't optimize the reactor.
  • 6 of 8: Also, you might be able to force an alliance between NCR and Vault City.
  • 7 of 8: Vault City needs help from someone to solve the raider problem ... maybe NCR might give that help if you didn't.
  • 8 of 8: Just don't kill off the raiders.
