Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints

How can I get that door open?

  • 1 of 11: Have you tried to open it?
  • 2 of 11: It has a power lock, and you'll need to find a power box and turn the power back on before you can open it.
  • 3 of 11: If you haven't found and picked up the nearby armor battery yet, do so now.
  • 4 of 11: Notice what's near the spot the battery was at.
  • 5 of 11: There's a grate covering a vent shaft opening next to that barrel.
  • 6 of 11: Move the barrel and grate out of the way, then enter the shaft.
  • 7 of 11: Climb the rungs on one wall when you get to them, then crouch-walk along until you come to a grate in the floor.
  • 8 of 11: Drop down and look around for supplies, then figure out how to get past the locked fence door.
  • 9 of 11: Look around past the fence door to find another armor battery and pistol, then locate the power box.
  • 10 of 11: It's on the wall that's left of the power-lock door, right next to where you found the pistol and armor battery.
  • 11 of 11: Activate the power box with the "Use item" key to turn on the power and open the power-lock door.
