Section 2: Breach in Silo 2 (ep2_outland_11a)

  • 1 of 15: Go through the open doorway ahead of you to get to a room with several supplies in it, including armor batteries and SMG grenades on a shelf.
  • 2 of 15: Move on past that until a hunter attack causes two nearby bulkhead doors to close, sealing you in.
  • 3 of 15: As you go along the crawlway, you'll come to an open spot on the right through which you can see a room with resistance guys fighting three hunters. They're not going to be able to handle the hunters by themselves, so you'll need to help out.
  • 4 of 15: After all three hunters are down, move along the crawlway to find a couple of supply crates and health kits, plus several exits you can use to get into the room.
  • 5 of 15: Use the gravity gun to smash any manhacks in the room, then search it for more supply crates and health items. (And don't forget your stash back in the sealed corridor if you made one there, as the "Supply Tip" above suggests.)
  • 6 of 15: When you're through searching, find the side area with the ramp that leads up to the second-level walkway.
  • 7 of 15: Go along it until you come to a spot where a pipe is blowing scalding steam across a ladder.
  • 8 of 15: Use the pipe's red wheel to stop the steam just like you did earlier, then climb the ladder and drop off of it on a higher walkway.
  • 9 of 15: Before you move along the walkway, save your game and prepare for some extensive combat with Combine soldiers.
  • 10 of 15: Near the end of that series of combats, Dr. Magnusson will contact you over the intercom and say that you need to seal the silo's overhead launch doors in order to stop the invasion.
  • 11 of 15: Use the switch on the launch door control panel to close the silo doors.
  • 12 of 15: Several soldiers will appear up there as the doors slowly close, but there's no need to expose yourself to enemy fire -- just hide in the room's back corner until the doors are fully closed.
  • 13 of 15: When the alarm stops, leave the control room the same way you entered it to find Alyx and the lab-coat vortigaunt nearby.
  • 14 of 15: After she contacts Dr. Vance, follow the vortigaunt until he opens a door for you.
  • 15 of 15: Go through the door and down the hall to get Section 3: The Magnusson Device to load.
