How can I defeat this ambush?

  • 1 of 19: You'll know you're entering the ambush zone when you approach a large open area with a blue van in some rubble to the left and a large grate-covered cement tunnel to the right where a citizen shouts at you and then gets shot from behind.
  • 2 of 19: The first thing to do is look into the large tunnel the guy was killed in and shoot the metro cop that's a ways back in it. (Use the flashlight to help you see him.)
  • 3 of 19: Then look up and left for the next cop. He'll either be behind the blue van or up on a cement ledge near it. (This one may not appear, though he usually does.)
  • 4 of 19: TIP: If the cop in the tunnel is too hard to see or shoot, hang back and take care of the other cop first. The tunnel cop will soon come outside to where you can more easily shoot him.
  • 5 of 19: Quicksave before you round the corner past the grate-covered tunnel -- there's a cop farther down who's manning a mounted machine gun. He'll start firing the instant he sees you peeking around the corner.
  • 6 of 19: What you need to do is sprint around the corner and immediately head into an un-barred tunnel opening on the right (just before you come to a stack of wooden crates). You should be able to make it without taking any hits.
  • 7 of 19: Moving along the tunnel, you'll encounter another cop followed by a large room with some furniture, supplies, a radio, and a ladder leading up to where the machine gun emplacement is.
  • 8 of 19: When you climb up the ladder, you have a bit of cover to use while taking out the two cops on the gun emplacement ledge.
  • 9 of 19: Climb back up the ladder, but don't approach the mounted machine gun yet.
  • 10 of 19: Instead, look up at the ledge above the ladder to see a stack of five explosive barrels nearby.
  • 11 of 19: Move back and shoot them with the pistol to get rid of them now.
  • 12 of 19: Also, look at the wide cement ledge that runs along the right wall on your level.
  • 13 of 19: It's your way out of here, but partway down it is a small raised-up metal platform that you can't get up on.
  • 14 of 19: Once the ledge is ready to run across, you can do just that, but a bunch of cops will appear and attack.
  • 15 of 19: Fortunately, you have that mounted machine gun at your disposal now. Run for it instead of the ledge and hit the "Use item" key to get ahold of it.
  • 16 of 19: Quickly shoot down all the scanners and cops as they appear, using the remaining explosive barrels in the area to help out. (Note that the small wooden platform that's up high and on the left can be shot out, too.)
  • 17 of 19: Before long, an APC (armored personnel carrier) equipped with a homing rocket launcher will drive in on the upper ledge to your right.
  • 18 of 19: When it does, you need to abandon the machine gun and quickly run along the nearby cement ledge. (The one with the metal platform I mentioned earlier.)
  • 19 of 19: Keep going until you're out of the APC's sight. If there are any cops or scanners left, finish them off from there.
