Half-Life 2 Hints

Section 1: City 17 Train Station (d1_trainstation_01)

  • 1 of 9: The game starts with good ol' Briefcase Bastard (whom we'll now refer to as the G-Man) waking up Dr. Gordon Freeman (that's you!) to go on another "assignment" for his ever-mysterious employers.
  • 2 of 9: After the G-Man's through with his carefully phrased intro, you'll appear on a train that's heading into the train station at City 17, one of the major Combine-controlled cities on what's left of Earth.
  • 3 of 9: NOTE: You can use the "Use item" key to talk to the train's other passengers during the remainder of the trip in order to start getting an idea of how things are for people these days. After you leave the train, there'll be more people you can talk to in various places.
  • 4 of 9: After the train stops at the station platform, get off and start exploring.
  • 5 of 9: There's nothing to do in the waiting room except talk to a few depressed people, so go on into the security checkpoint.
  • 6 of 9: Barney will hurry you on your way after a quick conversation and a bit of advice on how to proceed.
  • 7 of 9: After you go through the window, you'll fall into a small courtyard with various junk strewn about.
  • 8 of 9: When you're done having fun throwing junk around, you'll need to go through the door at one end of the courtyard.
  • 9 of 9: As soon as you move through the door, you'll get the "LOADING" sign and Section 2: Outside the Train Station will begin.
