1 of 3: Drop all the nearby supplies and soldiers' weapons that you don't need now down the hole, since it's another point of no return.
2 of 3: You could bring supplies from far off to drop down the hole, but don't bother except with really important and rare stuff like armor batteries and SMG grenades.
3 of 3: And remember that your squad can pick up health kits from the ground if they're injured, so drop plenty of those down the hole, too (especially if you don't have a medic with you).
