Half-Life 2 Hints
Section 3: The New, Improved Gravity Gun (d3_citadel_03)
of 17: Wait and watch as the local security system detects and "confiscates" all of your weapons. And you probably had a full load of ammo in most of them!
of 17: However, this is all totally worth it since the energy beams which disintegrate your other weapons will accidentally transform the gravity gun into a vastly improved version of its old self!
of 17: Right after you pick up the new gravity gun, see if you can jump. If not, see the BUG WARNING info for a solution to this glitch before you go any further.
of 17: After the soldiers are zapped, go down the corridor to reach a large area where Dr. Breen will start yakking at you on the nearby monitors. If you don't want to listen to him, use the gravity gun to quickly yank each monitor off the wall.
of 17: TIP: Look for the special Combine recharger on one wall near the monitors -- it looks like a standard armor recharger, but it's a whole lot better. Each of these special rechargers can take your health up to 100 and your armor up to 200! Always look around for these things, especially after major soldier attacks.
of 17: Run down the walkway past the recharger and kill off the soldiers who appear there, then look around the corner to the next big walkway area to get the attention of a bunch more soldiers.
of 17: At the end of the big walkway area is a little fence you need to jump over in order to get into a room with a large central energy column.
of 17: You don't want to enter the column yourself, but feel free to throw the bodies of the attacking soldiers into it to disintegrate them. (Though this isn't necessary unless you insist on keeping a clean Citadel.)
of 17: Find the walkway that leads to a small lift with a red-light-green-light control panel.
of 17: As soon as you ascend, turn to deal with the two soldiers who are past the nearby force field.
of 17: Move down the corridor past the force field room to find another Combine recharger on the right.
of 17: Past that is another room that you can't enter due to a force field, but a whole lot of soldiers can and will enter it from nearby side hallways.
of 17: When you're sure no more soldiers are coming, take down the big room's force field by sucking out its generator's energy orb. (Just like you did with the previous one.)
of 17: If any more soldiers then appear, retreat and deal with them the very same way as the earlier ones before you move on.
of 17: The next room has a couple of computer stations and some steps that lead up to a short corridor with another Combine recharger on the wall.
