Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Hints

How can I get back out of the cellar?

  • 1 of 10: Holmes won't try to climb back up, so try using the lift that's directly below your rope.
  • 2 of 10: Click on the lift's electrical box to find that there's a broken connection. You're going to have to open up that box and fix it.
  • 3 of 10: Your pocketknife won't open it, so look around for another prying tool.
  • 4 of 10: Look to the left of the small incinerator to find a pointed poker.
  • 5 of 10: Take it and select it in inventory, then click on the electrical box to pry it open.
  • 6 of 10: You can then click on the box to get a puzzle screen where you'll need to reconnect some wires.
  • 7 of 10: After you fix the electrical box, clicking on it will just get Holmes to say he needs something.
  • 8 of 10: It turns out that the lift isn't your way out of the cellar, but is instead your way of getting something important up to Watson.
  • 9 of 10: Sending the stretcher parts up will burn out the lift's electrical box, as you can verify by clicking the magnifying glass on it.
  • 10 of 10: The only way out of the cellar now is the door, but you can't open it without its key.
