Mysterious Journey II Hints
How do I solve the stalk on the right?
of 9: The stalk on the left is the easiest (and the one in the center is the hardest). If you haven't done so already, you may wish to solve the one on the left first.
of 9: The stalk on the right will grow to a maximum of ten bumps high. Your goal, then, is to create a stalk with leaves at the tenth bump.
of 9: Once you've tried to grow this stalk a few times, it will become obvious that once the stalk reaches a certain height, it will not be possible to successfully grow the stalk with a leaf at the top.
of 9: If the stalk grows to exactly six bumps tall, the next growth will always end at ten bumps (no matter which color you choose next) without the required leaves at the top. So, for this stalk, six bumps of growth is a "hurdle" you'll want to avoid.
of 9: Try to produce a growth that gets as close to six bumps as possible, without going over.
of 9: Immediately after getting close to six bumps, decide on a color that will produce enough growth to get over the six-bump hurdle, without allowing the plant to grow to its maximum height of ten bumps.
of 9: If you use blue first, it will grow to six bumps, which is unsolvable.
of 9: Green doesn't seem to work very well -- only two bumps grow when the stalk is just started -- and the next push of any button creates an unsolvable stalk.
of 9: Yellow seems to be the easiest color to start with, but remember that the amount of growth produced varies from three to five bumps.
