How can I get started early with the constant effect enchantments?
  • 1 of 10: One way to get started is to join the Mages Guild and finish Ranis Athrys' Quests as soon as possible. Doing so gets you the Soul Drinker dagger and two scrolls of Summon Golden Saint.
  • 2 of 10: However, there is a faster way that doesn't involve doing quite so many out-of-the-way quests.
  • 3 of 10: Do Ajira's Quests until you get the one where you're to plant a fake soul gem in Galbedir's desk. Take the opportunity to steal all of Galbedir's soul gems, as specified in that quest's hints.
  • 4 of 10: Then buy a Rising Force potion from someone and sail to Tel Branora. Head up to the Upper Tower area and find an entrance to Therana's Chamber.
  • 5 of 10: In there, you'll have to levitate up to where you can talk to Felen Maryon and buy the Summon Golden Saint spell from him. (If you need a Rising Force potion for levitation, you can steal one from a small shelf in the Lower Tower area.)
  • 6 of 10: Now take an exquisite ring or amulet and enchant it to summon a Golden Saint when used. (Put your Winged Twilight soul gem into this one since it's your best one.) You can have the duration of the spell be anywhere up to 43 seconds, and I'd advise you to make it at least 30 seconds unless you're sure you can kill a Golden Saint faster than that.
  • 7 of 10: Once your summoning item is made and you have a cheap soultrap weapon as described in earlier enchanting tips, use the item to summon up a Golden Saint. Whack on it with a more powerful weapon until it's nearly dead, then hit it repeatedly with your cheap soultrap weapon until it dies. If you have an empty grand soul gem or Azura's Star in your inventory, the saint's soul will be trapped in it, and it'll be ready for constant effect enchanting!
  • 8 of 10: When you have at least one Golden Saint soul gem and lots of money, use an exquisite amulet or ring (or a Telvanni cephalopod helm) along with a Golden Saint soul to make an item with a constant Night Eye effect of magnitude 100/100. You'll be very glad you made that item, since wearing it will allow you to clearly see everything around you no matter how dark the area you're in is. (Or if you have and can equip the Boots of Blinding Speed, you might want to make Levitate your first constant effect spell. See my Fast Travel Magic Spells info for the reason why.)
  • 9 of 10: Once you have an item that can summon Golden Saints when used, you've basically got an unlimited supply of saints to convert into top-level soul gems. You'll soon realize that the only remaining problem is that enchanting constant effect items is a very, very expensive process (even if your Speechcraft and Mercantile skills are 100 each, which they'd darn well better be if you're paying an enchanter).
  • 10 of 10: ALTERNATIVE: Once you get the Summon Golden Saint spell from Maryon, you could make a spell that will summon a Golden Saint that will never vanish. The spell is very cheap to make and cast, and you even get to raid your saints for items after they're dead!
