The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

How can I take advantage of the Light of Day glitch?

  • 1 of 7: This mace has several "Cast When Strikes" effects on it, and they're sometimes cast on you and sometimes on the enemy you strike.
  • 2 of 7: Furthermore, if you use the mace enough, your permanent innate magicka resistance and armor bonus will go up.
  • 3 of 7: The best way to get this to happen seems to be to fight two or more opponents at once, and alternate hitting one and then the other. This somehow confuses the game into making some of the armor and magicka resistance effects permanent instead of just temporary.
  • 4 of 7: You can get increases from a single opponent, especially if he's tough enough for you to hit him a bunch of times in a row with the mace, but you may have trouble getting started this way.
  • 5 of 7: See the Editing Your Character section of the PC cheat codes to learn how you can check on your current armor bonus and magicka resistance values (and reset them if you want to).
  • 6 of 7: You can keep whacking things with the Light of Day until your magicka resistance is 100 or more and your armor class is way high. You'll then be immune to many different kinds of magic spells, and can equip negative-effect items like the Boots of Blinding Speed without having to use a Resist Magicka spell first. Love those glitches!
  • 7 of 7: WARNING: The game seemed to crash more often than usual while I was using Light of Day, so save *very* frequently whenever you use it.
