Myst V: End of Ages Hints
There's a cable blocking my way at the top of a staircase.
of 10: Yes, and you'll need to move it to proceed.
of 10: It might help if you took a look around the red-lit control room and figure out what the devices there do.
of 10: Hmm ... the control room has a bunch of controls for telescopes, and those seem to be connected to the actual telescopes by some kind of pulley system.
of 10: There's a cable blocking your way.
of 10: And the screen on one of the consoles seems to be broken.
of 10: So that console (the one in the far right corner as you're entering the room from outside) must control this cable.
of 10: You might have seen a pair of D'ni symbols in another age that would give you the coordinates, or you can just use trial and error here to figure out the answer.
of 10: The D'ni Numbers 20 and 15 were written on the wall in a hallway on the top level of the tunnels near the Great Shaft.
of 10: Those settings will work here -- slide the left lever up 4/5ths of the way to the top (or 1/5th of the way down) and the top lever 3/5ths of the way to the right until you see those same symbols. Either way, don't forget to press the flashing green button so that the telescope actually moves to the specified coordinates.
of 10: Pointing the left lever all the way up (regardless of the position of the right lever) generally seems to work if you don't want to worry about getting the exact position correct.
