Myst V: End of Ages Hints
I've gotten to the second island, but where do I go next?
1 of 18: There isn't a whole lot to do here -- just a manual telescope and the pedestal that holds your slate.
2 of 18: So once again, why don't you try looking through the telescope to see what you can find?
3 of 18: It looks like there's another island that you haven't visited within the viewing range of the telescope here.
4 of 18: But it also appears that your view is (once again) obstructed.
5 of 18: This time, there are two different telescopes that seem to be sitting right within your view.
6 of 18: You may want to check a map of this age to figure out exactly which telescopes those are.
7 of 18: Go back to the stairs that took you to the tram controls on the first island and look on the far wall for the map. You'll see the main islands that you can walk on drawn in blue, and the positions of the telescopes in pink.
8 of 18: So you're looking for the two telescopes represented by the circle missing its upper-right quadrant and the circle missing its lower-right quadrant.
9 of 18: And the controls for those telescopes are back in the red control room near the start of the age -- specifically, the two consoles closest to you as you enter the room.
10 of 18: I suppose you could eventually figure this out through trial and error, but if you look around the age, someone's conveniently given you the coordinates.
11 of 18: The small manual telescopes you've seen will help you find them.
12 of 18: You might have found one of the settings on the telescope back on the first island.
14 of 18: If you go back to the control room and use the panels for the two telescopes to move them into the correct position, they should be aligned just perfectly so that you can now see something important when looking from the telescope to the distant island.
15 of 18: To summarize, teleport back to the start of the age and go to the red control room. Set the near-left console as you enter the room (the one with a black lower-right quadrant) to the D'ni Numbers 6 and 1 -- with the vertical slider about 25% above the bottom and the horizontal slider almost all the way to the left. Set the near-right console (black upper-right quadrant) to 13 and 24 -- about in the middle vertically and almost all the way horizontally. You will need to find the exact numbers on both telescopes, not just the approximate area, though. Press the flashing green buttons on both telescopes to move them.
16 of 18: You can now return to the second island via the pedestals. Look very carefully.
17 of 18: There's a small hole in one of the far telescopes that will line up perfectly with your position when you've moved them correctly. Look through that -- when your view is perfectly centered vertically and most of the way to the left -- and you can see another pedestal in the distance with a new symbol on it.
18 of 18: As usual, draw that symbol on your slate, drop it, and return to the main pedestal at the start of the age to teleport your way to that new island.
