Myst V: End of Ages Hints
What is the purpose of the display with the four bowls?
1 of 17: You might have noticed something on the ground in front of that display.
2 of 17: It sort of looks like the slate you are (or at least could be) holding in this age.
3 of 17: Why don't you draw that symbol on your slate, and see what the Bahro do when you drop the slate?
4 of 17: If they look confused, pay careful attention to the symbol on the ground.
5 of 17: Specifically the orientation.
6 of 17: Your slate is round at the top, and the slate on the ground is round at the bottom.
7 of 17: So you need to turn the picture that you see on the ground 180 degrees.
8 of 17: The final symbol that you need to draw has three vertical lines, each with a circle at the *bottom*. The center line should be lower than the ones on the sides.
9 of 17: When you leave this symbol on your slate and walk away, the screen will flash and the Bahro will make it rain.
10 of 17: Hmm ... there are holes in the canvas above the display that line up with the bowls. Why don't you wait around and see what happens?
11 of 17: The bowls will eventually fill, a few seconds before the rain stops.
12 of 17: Walk up to the display as far as you can go, so that you're basically standing on the slate symbol on the ground, and look at the bowls there.
13 of 17: Notice that you can see a reflection of 4 of the symbols on the wall. (If you can't and you're in the advanced movement mode, either switch to classic mode briefly to make sure you're standing in just the right spot, or shift around a bit until the reflections line up -- there's only one set of 4 symbols that will reflect clearly.)
14 of 17: The symbols, going clockwise from the top left, look like 2 pairs of crossed lines, 2 lines inside 2 circles, 2 vertical lines, and 2 pairs of crossed lines inside a single circle. You should make a note of these until you see these same symbols elsewhere.
15 of 17: They will appear on the outside of the hut on the top of the cliff.
