Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy Hints

How do I work the printing press?

  • 1 of 9: You can't use the press (which is to the left of the fireplace) until someone asks you to.
  • 2 of 9: The second time you talk to Kyler, she'll ask you to print three more copies of the wedding program. NOW you can use the press.
  • 3 of 9: The operation of the press is a little confusing at first, but it's not too complicated once you figure out what's going on. The basic process is:
  • 4 of 9: 1. Put the printing plate in the space to the left of the big wheel. For the wedding program, it's already in place.
  • 5 of 9: 2. Cover the plate with the color ink you want, using the four bottles at left with letters on them. For the program, that's black, labeled "K."
  • 6 of 9: 3. Pull out a piece of paper from the paper bin (at the right, opposite from the inks) and put it on top of the inked plate. The first time you do this, you'll pull out a strange plate with drawings and numbers. Keep reading for more about this plate and the others like it.
  • 7 of 9: 4. Turn the wheel to run the plate into the press.
  • 8 of 9: 5. Remove the piece of paper and put it on the dryer box at the right; press the button to blow-dry the ink.
  • 9 of 9: 6. Pick up the printed paper. If it's a program, you can now put it in the basket at the upper right. If you did it wrong or you don't want to keep it, put it in the shredder to the right of the blower.
