Nancy Drew 27: The Deadly Device Hints

Awards

  • 1 of 14: There are lots of awards this time, some very easy to get and a couple that are really nasty. I'm told that if you get them all, you'll get some extra outtakes at the end of the game; I've gotten all of them, but never in the same game, so I haven't seen the extra outtakes. Have fun!
  • 2 of 14: Alarmist: For consistently raising the alert. Turn on the alarm outside the lounge every time you walk past, whether you want to get into the lab or not. Actually, it doesn't have to be every time; an extra 10 times or so is enough to get the award.
  • 3 of 14: Candy Connoisseur: Sampling all of Niko's candy. After Ryan gives you the opening mechanism for the candy machine in Niko's office, play it over and over to remove every candy bar from the machine. You'll have to finish this before Victor arrives, and it's much easier as an amateur than as a master.
  • 4 of 14: Chemist: Creating many formulas. Create all six formulas listed in the "Solutions" notebook. As you complete each one, put it in a bottle, then throw the bottle into the hazardous waste slot. What a waste!
  • 5 of 14: Electrified: Running wireless energy tests. After you fix the big Tesla coil, turn it on and off multiple times, maybe 10 or 20 times.
  • 6 of 14: Easter Egg: For finding a secret surprise! Find at least one of the three Easter eggs. (Four, if you have the bonus edition of the game.)
  • 7 of 14: Gamer: Playing the boards. Play Aggregation all the way through level 25, at which point it says, "You win!" This takes a long time and a lot of patience, but it is fun to reach a point past which Mason can't top your score. (He's not a good loser. What a surprise.)
  • 8 of 14: Gummy Bandit: For pilfering gelatinous ursines. You probably figured out that this is a matter of stealing gummy bears from Ryan, but there's only one time you can do this. At the end of the game, when she asks you to get her some of Victor's candy, instead of going to his office to get it, ask her to distract him. When she leaves, go to his office and then come back immediately, and Ryan is gone but the gummies are still here. Snag some (you have to try twice -- the first time you click Nancy says she should wait), and you're good. Not only did you get the award, but you also got the gummies you need; you don't now have to get the candy for Ryan.
  • 9 of 14: Imperfectionist: For messing up Mason's desk. When you visit Mason's desk during the night, move everything that can be moved on his desk -- sticky notes, pens, paper clips, markers, and pencils. You can then come back during the day and innocently ask him why he's so upset. I suppose I'm tiny-minded, but I really love messing with his tightly wound little world. Heh heh heh ...
  • 10 of 14: Composer: Creating shockingly beautiful music. After you correctly play Niko's song on the small Tesla coil, come back to it and write and play anything at all on the keyboard many times. It doesn't have to be beautiful or even recognizable; in fact, there's very little you can play because the keyboard doesn't allow sharps or flats. Just AAAAAAA or BBBBBB or whatever will do, as long as it fills the score to the end.
  • 11 of 14: Pigeon Handler: For frequent flights. Before you place the magnets near the end of the game, push the button of the pigeon in Niko's office 20 or so times.
  • 12 of 14: Pretty Kitty: Rebuilding the robotic feline. Find all the parts of the robotic cat and assemble them.
  • 13 of 14: Trivia Tamer: For acing the final test. Get the right answer on the trivia quiz at the end of the game. If you have trouble with this, save the game while the trivia question is showing, load a previous saved game to look up the answer, then reload the trivia question and get it right.
  • 14 of 14: Charmed: Finding all the charms. Find the seven phone charms that are scattered about the place in the bonus edition of the game.
