What do these four words mean?

  • 1 of 12: Think back to Jake's letter ("As for my beloved Camille ... ").
  • 2 of 12: He said these four words were to be used in combination. That sounds a little like a combination lock, doesn't it?
  • 3 of 12: Is there a combination lock on the train you couldn't open before?
  • 4 of 12: How about the 4-number safe behind the grill in the sleeping car?
  • 5 of 12: Now all you have to do is turn these four words into numbers. Look in Camille's Car for the answer.
  • 6 of 12: Look up the four words in the Sampler book --
  • 7 of 12: -- then look up those four pictures on the sampler to get their numbers.
  • 8 of 12: Okay, you're almost there! Now all you need to do is figure out the order of the numbers.
  • 9 of 12: Go back to the sleeping car and lift the grate to look at the cover. Odd pattern, isn't it?
  • 10 of 12: But look at it again. Those patterns are the same four rubbings you did, the four quarters of the circle from the columns.
  • 11 of 12: Look back at the rubbing and notice which word goes with which quarter, then put them in the order shown on the cover.
  • 12 of 12: The combination is 7963.
