How do I convert the number back into the Mayan numbering system?

  • 1 of 13: If you have not added the numbers yourself, and would like to do so, please read How do I add the numbers? The following hint mentions the final number from the addition problem.
  • 2 of 13: The number you need to convert into Mayan symbols is 2004.  Since the answer is over 400, this number will obviously be a three digit number.
  • 3 of 13: In order to determine the value for the "four hundreds" place, you'll need to figure out how many "four hundreds" this number would contain.
  • 4 of 13: Divide 400 into 2004 -- the answer is 5 (remainder 4).  5 X 400 = 2000.
  • 5 of 13: The top number on the Mayan numbering system would be 5.  This will need to be converted into the Mayan symbol for a number of this value.
  • 6 of 13: The Mayans represent a five by drawing a single line.
  • 7 of 13: To enter the "2000" into the stone dials in the Temple, turn the top dial to a single line.
  • 8 of 13: The number 2004 does not have any value in the "twenties" place, so the second number is zero.
  • 9 of 13: The value of zero in the "twenties" place would be represented by the symbol that looks like an eye.
  • 10 of 13: To enter this value into the stone dials in the Temple, turn the middle dial to the symbol that looks like an eye.
  • 11 of 13: The final portion of the number is the four in the "ones" place.
  • 12 of 13: The value of four in the "ones" place would be represented by four dots.
  • 13 of 13: To enter this value into the stone dials in the Temple, turn the bottom dial to the setting with four dots.
