Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide Hints
How do I get the huge boulder out of the way of the dragon cave entrance?
of 17: If you remember your talks with Deekin, he mentioned that someone called the Master Jumper is the only one who can grant access to the dragon caves.
of 17: So go find Mr. Master and ask him to help you out.
of 17: He's ticked off the local chieftain and has been imprisoned.
of 17: The kobold prison is behind the door that's just a little ways into the western-most of the two tunnels that lead south from the main kobold chamber.
of 17: Kill the kobold warden and get his key so you can open the jail cells.
of 17: The southern-most cell has the Master Jumper in it. Talk to him to learn how you can gain his cooperation.
of 17: He wants the Rod of Ruler from the chieftain in exchange for moving the boulder.
of 17: Leave the prison area and head on south down the same tunnel to find the chieftain's cavern.
of 17: NOTE: There's a small side room near the chieftain's cavern that contains several kobold spellcasters, a winter wolf, and a treasure chest with several good potions and Gloves of Appraisal. Also, the shaman has a Ring of Fortitude +1.
of 17: You could try talking to Arzig, but the only way he'll negotiate with you is if you let the kobolds in the Bubbling Cauldron's kitchen go while doing the "Kobolds in the Kitchen" misc. quest and if you haven't killed any local kobolds that didn't attack you first. (If you killed the kobolds in the kitchen, Arzig may still listen to you if you let Urko and his band go while on "The Mummified Hand" main quest.)
of 17: If you know Arzig will order an attack when you talk to him, you could instead initiate combat at range and draw the kobolds out of the chamber to where you can deal with them a few at a time. (Or, if you have the Great Cleave feat, you could talk to Arzig and then whack all of the kobolds that surround you in one swift cleaving action.)
of 17: If Arzig lets you negotiate, always choose the middle ground between what Arzig and the Master Jumper want. Visits for Arzig to the dragon should be allowed once a month, for instance, instead of anytime or never.
of 17: If you have to kill Arzig, be sure to get the Rod of Ruler from his corpse. (He also has a diamond and a Ring of Protection +1.) Note that all the formerly nonhostile kobolds in the cavern will now be hostile because you killed their chieftain.
of 17: Once you have the rod, there are two options.
of 17: If your Search skill is high enough to reveal the secret door that's near the huge boulder, you can open it and enter a room with a strange machine. Insert the Rod of Ruler into the machine (using a dialogue option) to raise the boulder.
of 17: If the Master Jumper got killed at any point, that's what you'll have to do. Otherwise, you could do that or you could go give the rod to Jumpie and then meet him in the boulder cavern. Talk to him there to get his jumpers to jump onto the counterweight platform and raise the boulder.
of 17: Either way, go through the passage under the raised boulder to reach the dragon cave.
