The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I win the Arena matches and become Grand Champion?
of 10: After signing up to be a combatant, put on your Arena raiment and talk to Owyn about a match.
of 10: He'll open up the nearby Red Room for you, which is just to the east.
of 10: Go through it and up the curving ramp to reach the door to the Arena's main fighting floor.
of 10: After going through the door, run forward until you're at a closed iron gate.
of 10: The announcer's voice will start up, and soon the gate will lower, signalling the start of the match.
of 10: TIP: Get your weapon out and quicksave right before the gate lowers.
of 10: Each battle is to the death, so get out there and slash or zap your opponent to death before he can do the same to you.
of 10: When it's over, leave the Arena through the same door you came in through (the one to the south) and use the Basin of Renewal in the Red Room to fully restore your health, magicka, and fatigue.
of 10: Then report back to Owyn to collect your winnings and get promoted if you've finished a combat set.
of 10: There are eight Arena ranks short of Grand Champion, and therefore eight combat sets you must complete before being named the new Grand Champion. Below are descriptions of each combat set, including any special tips.
