The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Defense of Bruma
of 10: Talk to Martin at any time after completing "Bruma Gate" and "Miscarcand" to get this quest.
of 10: When he and Jauffre take off, they'll be headed for Bruma's Great Chapel of Talos, and you can find them there later near the Altar of the Nine.
of 10: But first, go talk to Countess Narina Carvain in Castle Bruma's Great Hall about battle plans.
of 10: She'll agree to meet Martin, so just follow her and her entourage to the chapel after you're through talking.
of 10: Any time after Martin and the countess are done talking in the chapel, you can talk to the countess to get the big battle sequence started. Until you do, you can consider this quest on hold and go do other stuff.
of 10: After you say it's okay to start the battle, follow Martin as he leaves the chapel and heads out through the city gates.
of 10: Outside, he and the nearby soldiers will soon start running toward the first small Oblivion gate to open. Be sure to follow them and stick close to Martin when the Daedra appear and attack.
of 10: TIP: When the Daedra appear, they'll be right next to the gate. If you just charge in and start hacking, you'll probably be fighting them alone. Hang back a bit to get your comrades involved in the battle.
of 10: Pay attention to the message line (top of screen), since it'll tell you when the other smaller Oblivion gates open.
of 10: When the Great Gate opens, you'll get a journal entry about it.
