The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Scheduled for Execution

  • 1 of 20: Talk to Valtieri about "Contract" again to get this one.
  • 2 of 20: This quest has you going back to the prison area where you started the game and killing off that insulting creep in the cell across from yours.
  • 3 of 20: Fast-travel to the Imperial Prison Sewer (location 1 on the Heartlands map), then go in through the grate door.
  • 4 of 20: Make your way through the first sewer area and into the second one.
  • 5 of 20: When you come to the big SE room, drop into the water and use the tunnel that leads NE.
  • 6 of 20: Go as far as you can in the water, then get out of it and go down the narrow NW passage.
  • 7 of 20: Pick the lock on the metal gate in the next room so you can get to the door to the third sewer area.
  • 8 of 20: In the giant cistern room, you can dive into the water to slaughter some slaughterfish for old time's sake, or you can just find the gate on the lower walkway and go through it.
  • 9 of 20: Make your way to the locked exit to the Sanctum area, and then start sneaking. There are Imperial guards scattered about that you don't want to be seen by.
  • 10 of 20: You'll first come to a pair who are loudly talking. Wait until they finish talking and one of them walks off.
  • 11 of 20: Sneak after him, and then past him and along the passage that leads NE when you can do so undetected.
  • 12 of 20: Go through the door to the Imperial Subterrane area, which only has one constantly patrolling guard in the area. Sneak carefully past him, then run for the exit to the Imperial Prison.
  • 13 of 20: Make your way along until you reach your old cell, then pause out of sight while a guard talks to the guy you're after across the hall.
  • 14 of 20: After the guard walks away, open the door on your cell (it's unlocked) and start shooting Dreth through the bars of his cell door with arrows and/or spells.
  • 15 of 20: Or you could go to the table that's to the left of his cell and nab the keys off it, one of which will open his cell door and allow you to hit him with melee attacks.
  • 16 of 20: Once he's dead, getting back out of the prison is easy.
  • 17 of 20: Just nab the Imperial Prison Key off the nearby table and go through the door at the top of the stairs. You'll end up in the prison's Bastion area, which is perfectly legal for you to be in.
  • 18 of 20: Head back to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary in Cheydinhal and report success to Valtieri to get your reward, which includes the Scales of Pitiless Justice if you didn't kill any guards.
  • 19 of 20: While you're carrying those scales, your Strength, Intelligence, and Agility are boosted, and your Personality is drained. (You can temporarily drop the scales whenever you need your Personality back in top shape.)
  • 20 of 20: You can move on to Valtieri's fourth quest right away, or you can do a little side quest first.
