The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Ambush
1 of 8: After getting Polus to promote you to Master-Wizard (hyphen and all), talk to Traven about "Tasks" again.
2 of 8: He'll send you to Silorn (location 24 on the West Weald map) to assist some battlemages in ambushing the resident necromancers and getting ahold of a special black soul gem.
3 of 8: Fast-travel to Skingrad or the Bloodcrust Cavern, then head SE to approach Silorn.
4 of 8: Use the green arrow on the world map to help you find the group of battlemages you're to rendezvous with. Do this without approaching Silorn if you want to have any hope of ambushing the necromancers.
5 of 8: Talk to Thalfin, then follow her to where she'll talk to you about strategy.
6 of 8: You don't have to go to the trouble of setting up an ambush -- you could just run straight for the door to Silorn (which is no longer sealed by an enchantment) and tear through the place until you find Falcar, the holder of the special soul gem you're after.
