The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

How can I use the construction set to make super items?

  • 1 of 22: Run the construction set and load up the Oblivion.esm file using the "Data..." option on the File menu. (Note that you need to double-click on the box to the left of the ESM file's name to select it.)
  • 2 of 22: In this example, we'll be making a new magic ring.
  • 3 of 22: But before we create the ring, we'll create a special enchantment to go on the ring.
  • 4 of 22: In the Object Window, double-click on "Magic" and then click on "Enchantment."
  • 5 of 22: Right-click on any enchantment record and choose "New." This will bring up a window in which we can create our new enchantment.
  • 6 of 22: In the ID field, type in "superringen" (without the quote marks).
  • 7 of 22: Then change the "Type" field to "Apparel" since a ring counts as apparel.
  • 8 of 22: In the first blank in the "Effect Name" field, right-click and choose "New" to bring up an Effect Item window.
  • 9 of 22: Change the "Effect" field to "Restore Health" and then set the "Magnitude" field to a number like 50 or so.
  • 10 of 22: After finishing that, put Restore Fatigue and Restore Magicka effects in the two fields below it.
  • 11 of 22: Then put Reflect Damage and Reflect Spell effects on with magnitudes of 100 each.
  • 12 of 22: Put anything else you want in, then click on "OK" to make the enchantment.
  • 13 of 22: Then go to "Items" and "Clothing" and then click on "Ring."
  • 14 of 22: Right-click on the ColovianSignetRing that's at the very top of the ring list and choose to edit it.
  • 15 of 22: First, change its ID field to "superring" so that our ring will become a new item instead of overwriting an old item.
  • 16 of 22: Set the name field to whatever name you want the ring to be called in the game, then set the "Enchanting" field to "superringen," which is our new enchantment.
  • 17 of 22: Also, you'll probably want to edit its value to make it super-valuable, and uncheck the "Quest Item" field.
  • 18 of 22: When you're done, go to the File menu's "Save" option and choose a name for your ESP plug-in file.
  • 19 of 22: The next time you run the game, choose "Data Files" from the launcher menu and click on the box next to your new plug-in.
  • 20 of 22: Then choose to play the game and either start a new game or load up a saved game.
  • 21 of 22: To get a copy of your item, you'll have to use the "player.additem" console command with the proper form number. See the "Getting Stuff" section of the PC Cheat Codes for details on how to do that.
  • 22 of 22: I'll also give exact directions on how to make PoisonGrip arrows for those of you who really miss those after using them a lot in Morrowind.
