The Orange Box: Portal Hints
Achievements
Below are hints on how to get all of Portal's achievements. Some of them can't be avoided while playing through the game since they're required actions, while some require a lot of extra trouble, and are easy to miss.
If you're playing on the PC, you'll have to be connected to the Internet and have Steam in online mode in order to get credit for your achievements, or to even view the achievement list. However, if you're playing in offline mode, you can still see if you've done something achievement-related by using the PC console.
This second set of achievements includes ones that can be done in several different spots throughout the game. They're put in the order that you can first accomplish them.
This third set of achievements lists ones that have to be done in one particular spot. All of them are required for continuing the game, anyway. They're listed in the order that you come across them.
