Where can I go once I'm on the canal's other side?

1 of 6: Going up and down the walkway won't yield any obvious exits.
2 of 6: However, Watson will notice some footprints in a certain spot as you go along.
3 of 6: Next to those footprints is a floor grating that you can click on to get a close-up.

That grating has a puzzle panel on it, but you'll have to clean it off and find its key before you can start working on the puzzle.

After you insert the piece of metal into the slot on the right side of the grating's panel, the puzzle will open up.
6 of 6: After solving the puzzle, click on the open grating's hotspot to start a very long cut-scene in which much will be explained.
