The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
How can I open the puzzle-lock door?
of 10: Notice that it has an interactive center circle labeled "keyhole."
of 10: Try using it to find that the Sapphire Dragon Claw item fits into it. However, that won't open the door (and it'll set off a dart trap).
of 10: Examining the door for other interactive items, you'll see that it has three stone rings on it that can be rotated.
of 10: Each ring has symbols for a wolf, an owl, and a moth. They must act as the door's three-"digit" combination lock.
of 10: Unfortunately, the combo isn't conveniently engraved on the walls anywhere. You'll have to find it somewhere else.
of 10: The Sapphire Dragon Claw item that fits into the door's keyhole might have a clue on it.
of 10: Go to the "misc" section of your inventory and click on the Sapphire Dragon Claw item, then click and drag on its picture to rotate it.
of 10: Get it to where you can see the three symbols engraved on it, then use them to set the door's three rings correctly.
of 10: Set the top ring to the moth symbol, the middle ring to the owl symbol, and the bottom ring to the wolf symbol.
of 10: You can then use the keyhole to get the door open.
